As you all should know volleyball ended a while ago and football has came to a dull ending. With all of this in mind it means that the winter sports are now in session. This includes Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball and Wrestling.
Starting with the girls season they have completed 3 games already. They first posted a win against Leroy-Ostrander down in the Dover-Eyota invitational before falling to the eagles the following day. After these two games they came home to play the Byron Bears where they suffered a very tough loss. This leaves the girls to a 1-2 record before they now travel to Saint Claire to play a game tonight. When asked what was up with this game Olivia Warren responded "Yeah, I don't know what is up with that, I'm really not looking forward to this ride."
The Boys basketball team has also been getting into this so called winter sports thing and have been practicing this whole last week. They have yet to play any games but they did have a scrimmage this past Saturday. They saw the Triton Cobras and also the New Richland Heartland Ellendale Geneva team, or NRHEG for short. The boys will not see any basketball action until Friday when they travel all the way down 58 to the town of Red Wing for an invitational. They open the invitational with Red Wing on Friday night then The following night they play Faribault Public. When asked what he thinks about the first Two games Brett replied "I think they will be some good games and after I dunk some and run the train on their butts we should easily win."
Also starting their winter season are the wrestlers. They have been in the cafeteria, I mean the wrestling room, for the past week also. They have not seen any action on the mat yet this week and don't plan on seeing any until they have to travel to Lake City on Friday night to open up with a dual meet. Expect the wrestling team to look a little shaky until after Christmas when a few kids drop a weight or two and match up with kids more their size.
So this will conclude my winter sports preview section on the Girls Basketball, Boys Basketball and the Wrestling teams. Take all of this in and I hope to see you at some of these exciting winter sports events.
